What drink should we have with dinner?

I am cooking clam chowder for my girlfriend Saturday with a salad (haven't decided what kind) and I was wondering what drink I should have with it. I cook for her on the weekends since that is the only time I see her, the last few weekends we had wine with the dinner and thats getting a bit old, so I was looking more into the mixed drinks area, something thats fun, tastes good, at least vaguely goes with the dinner, and will "get the job done" if you know what i mean :-).
