Can I cook dead clams?

My mum bought like 8 clams (I have no idea why, but it's clear to me that she's never bought clams before), and all were alive we she brought them home but now like half of them are dead. I know you're not supposed to cook dead clams, but since they've only been dead for a while, can I still cook them and eat them?
