How can i reduce the spiciness in my seafood stew?

this recipe called for 1 tbsp of hot pepper flakes.it is a rather large recipe. it called for 12 clams,12 mussels 1lb shrimp.1lb sae scallops. ilb cod,cutin 1" cubes.1lb crabmeat.there is no water called for,only1 28oz can diced tomatoes & 2 tbsps tomato paste.thev spices are oregano. 6 cloves garlic, & rosemary & thyme.
